Jump in now
I intended to start this blog much earlier, but we got really really busy. So I'll just start with now, and fill in gaps when I have time.
Today, before lunch I
- called Aussie (I don't know why but Kiwis say Aussie when they mean the country, not a person) to arrange delivery of our shipped boxes
- arranged contents insurance for our new rental house (we move in tomorrow)
- bought a great big wooden bed on TradeMe (NZ's answer to eBay, and in many ways better IMO)
- fixed up insurance for our new car, and went and picked it up. We bought an imported from Japan Mazda MPV, it's blue, has snazzy features, and a very funky stereo system gps thing that only works in Japanese. If you are in Wellington, and can use technology in Japanese, I would love to meet you.
- tried out the old school tomtom gps that I bought yesterday, with the new Yoda voice I downloaded last night. It's very fun. I also tried out the Darth Vader voice I downloaded, but it made me tetchy, so I'm back to Yoda.
- bought new towels, an iron, coffee mugs and a few other things we will need in the new house.
- put new things in to wash so they are ready to use in the new house.
- booked a truck to drive around Wellington and outskirts tomorrow and pick up enough beds for us all, and a dresser and table and chairs, all TradeMe scores from my considered and bargain hunter fuelled frenzy this week.
Then had lunch.
Then went to meet the principal, staff and kids of Thorndon School, where our kids will start on Monday.
It seems that blogging on the iPad borks all the formatting, I must see if I can do something about that. In my spare time...
